Yes readers, Facebook is introducing a new tool called Interests, and they are adding it as we speak. So get ready for getting more control over your Facebook news feeds.
If it has been added to your page you will go down the left hand side of your page, if you do not see it there then click on “More” which should be under “Apps” or under “Friends”, if it’s not there it will be soon.
So again you are looking for “Interests”, click on it and you will and a page will come up with a list of suggestions.
*And as I’m like a kid in a candy shop when it comes to something new, you know ‘look, cool, click’, when I should be going ‘OK, write this down when you click so you can share’…. Sorry friends, I was having too much fun!
Alright you have your list of ‘Interests’ suggestions like ‘Business Leaders’, ‘Exercise’, ‘Leadership Insights’, and on and on. Simply click on the ones you want to follow and posts from these Interests will now appear in your standard Facebook news feed.
Next, you can create your own “Interests’ to follow by simply clicking on ‘+ Add Interests’ and it will show you a list of all the ‘Interests’ you have not subscribed to.
Then in the upper right you will see ‘+ Create List’, click on it and a Create New List screen will pop up. On this pop up you will see options for Pages, Subscriptions and Friends, and below that specific interest categories to follow.
The major part of the page will show you all your Pages you’ve Liked, your Subscriptions and your Friends. Now to create your list of the pages, subscriptions and friends simply go through the pictures and click on the ones you want to add and a blue check mark will appear. If there is a Page or Friend that you do not have in this area, in the upper right start typing the name of who you would like to add to this Interests list, when their picture appears click on it to add it.
After you have selected every Page and Friend you would like in this Interests list, in the lower right click ‘Next’.
Now, choose a name for your list in the ‘List Name:’ spot provided and then select if you would like this list available for the general Public to be able to follow it also, just your Friends or Only Me. Then click Done, and that’s it. You now have a Facebook Interests list.
Once you have created your Facebook Interests list you are now able to ‘Share’ it, similar to anything else you would share on Facebook. And, you are able to ‘Manage List’ as you will see when you click on it and the drop down menu appears.
Those are the basics, the list I created of ‘Leadership Insights’ contains the leaders in social media and online marketing, click this link to check it out… Click Here! or copy and paste this link to your browser https://www.facebook.com/lists/239563912805423 and feel free to add it to your Interests!
